Our service
The Trail is a luxury boutique travel consultancy operating under Sanchar Travels, based in India. We design and manage bespoke journeys for individuals, couples, and families. Every journey we build is original — designed from scratch around the specific person or people taking it.
We do not sell packages, pre-built itineraries, or catalogue trips. We do not work on commission from hotels, airlines, or suppliers. Our recommendations are based entirely on research and suitability.
We work with a limited number of clients at any one time. We may decline an enquiry if we cannot give it the attention it deserves. We will tell you directly if this is the case.

What we commit to
When you engage The Trail, we commit to the following:
- To listen carefully before suggesting anything
- To research every element of your journey independently, without commercial bias
- To recommend only what we genuinely believe is right for you
- To be transparent about costs, including our own fees
- To remain available to you throughout your journey
- To handle problems — if they arise — without burdening you with them where possible
- To treat every detail of your journey and personal preferences with complete discretion
What we ask of you
A journey built around you requires us to understand you. We ask that you engage honestly with our discovery process — the questions we ask before we begin are not formality. They are the foundation of everything we build.
We ask that you inform us of any material changes to your plans, party size, health considerations, or travel preferences as early as possible. Changes made late in the process may affect what is possible and may incur additional costs.
We ask that you review all proposals, confirmations, and booking documents carefully and notify us promptly of any inaccuracies.
Fees & payments
Our consultancy fee structure is shared at the beginning of every engagement. Fees vary based on the complexity and scope of the journey we are building. We will always confirm our fees before beginning substantive work.
Fees for third-party services — hotels, flights, ground transport, experiences — are passed through to you at cost. We do not mark these up. We do not receive referral fees or commissions from the properties and services we recommend.
Payment terms are confirmed in writing at the start of each engagement and vary by booking type and supplier requirements.
Cancellations & changes
Cancellation and amendment policies vary by supplier and are communicated clearly at the time of booking. We will always explain the implications of any cancellation before it is confirmed.
Our consultancy fee is non-refundable once substantive work has begun. This reflects the research and planning time invested in your journey, which cannot be recovered.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for every journey. We are happy to advise on appropriate cover but do not sell insurance directly.
Liability
The Trail acts as a consultancy and intermediary. We are not a licensed tour operator and do not assume liability for the services provided by third-party suppliers — hotels, airlines, ground operators, or guides — whose terms and conditions govern their own services.
We exercise significant care in selecting the suppliers we recommend and maintain ongoing relationships to ensure quality and reliability. Where a supplier fails to deliver, we will advocate on your behalf and work to resolve the situation. However, our liability is limited to our own consultancy fee.
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
